How to export a single ChatGPT conversation
You want one chat, not all of them. ChatGPT's built-in export doesn't do that.
What ChatGPT gives you
As of October 2026, ChatGPT's export (Settings → Data controls → Export data) emails you a link to a zip of your whole chat history. Then you have to dig the one chat you want out of that file.
Why copy-paste and Print to PDF fall short
Copying works for short chats. For long ones you end up copying reply by reply. Print to PDF often saves only the messages ChatGPT has loaded on screen, so long chats can come out cut short.
The one-chat way
- Install the AIChatExport Chrome extension and sign in to a free account at aichatexport.xyz.
- Open the ChatGPT conversation you want.
- Click the extension, then Export Conversation.
- The chat opens on aichatexport.xyz. Download it as a PDF or TXT file (Markdown on Pro).
For regular ChatGPT chats, the extension pulls the whole conversation from ChatGPT itself, including messages not loaded on screen. Images show as a placeholder. The extension sends the chat to our server to build your file.
