How to export a Gemini conversation

You want one Gemini chat saved as a file, with your questions and Gemini's answers together.

What Gemini gives you

As of October 2026, Gemini has two built-in options, and neither saves one whole chat as a file:

• Export to Docs on a response sends that response to Google Docs. You get Gemini's answer, but you don't get the back-and-forth.
• Google Takeout (Gemini Apps activity under My Activity) downloads your saved Gemini activity across your whole account (if Gemini Apps Activity is on), not one conversation.

Why copy-paste falls short

Copying works for short chats. For longer ones you end up copying turn by turn, and formatting like tables and code blocks often breaks.

The one-chat way

1. Install the AIChatExport Chrome extension and sign in to a free account at aichatexport.xyz.
2. Open the Gemini conversation you want.
3. Scroll to the top of the chat so Gemini loads the earlier messages.
4. Click the extension, then Export Conversation.
5. The chat opens on aichatexport.xyz. Download it as a PDF or TXT file (Markdown on Pro).

For Gemini, the extension saves the messages loaded on the page. It works well for short and medium chats. Very long Gemini chats may come out partial, so check the preview before you download. The extension sends the chat to our server to build your file.
