How to save a Claude chat as a PDF
You want one Claude conversation as a file you can keep, send or print.
What Claude gives you
As of October 2026, on personal plans, Claude's built-in export (Settings → Privacy → Export data) covers your whole account. You get an emailed download link to an archive of every conversation. There is no button to save just the chat you have open.
Why copy-paste and Print to PDF fall short
Copying works for a few messages. Long chats mean scrolling and copying reply by reply, and selecting text to copy often drops code-block and list formatting. Print to PDF can cut long chats short or split them across pages in odd places.
The one-chat way
- Install the AIChatExport Chrome extension and sign in to a free account at aichatexport.xyz.
- Open the Claude conversation you want.
- Click the extension, then Export Conversation.
- The chat opens on aichatexport.xyz. Download it as a PDF or TXT file (Markdown on Pro).
The extension reads the conversation from Claude itself, so you don't have to scroll to load older messages first. Artifacts (the documents and code Claude builds in the side panel) aren't included, and attached files show by name only. The extension sends the chat to our server to build your file.
